The Ninth Legion Guild Manual

 Most of what you find in this documentation will pertain to raiding and or progression,
but still all members of the guild should be familiar with our protocols or stand operational procedures (SOP).

Note: the Rules or Laws listed in this manual are subjected to change without notice, all member of the Ninth Legion are required to be fully aware of all documentation with in this manual. Negligence of the law in no excuse; you have been warned.

I am Meldagon the Guild Leader (Warlord) of The Ninth Legion and the founding member of TNL. I am in charge of all guild politics, complete guild management, all Officer Activities, Raid Progression, Rapid Raid DKP Tracking, and Raid Leading, The Guild Raid Manuel (TNLM), and furthermore i am one of the guild Website administrators. I will always be available for my members, and even though I am the guild leader, no one is above the Guild Manuel (TNLM), not even me.

ARTICLE ONE

 01 Requirement’s – Expectations;

It’s important to everyone in the raid that you at least know what you are suppose too be doing, and that you don’t have to be schooled in your class. We are not here to teach you how to play your class.
Please

Note 1 just because you’re in the TNL Guild this does not entitle you to a raid position within our raid’s, if you do not meet the requirements then you cannot raid with us.
Note 2 if your Main is not raiding on scheduled raid dates than your position within the guild may be in question.

01,01 Requirements

Requirement means what it implies. The following requirements must be met in order for any TNL raider can begin raiding with our guild. No exceptions.

01,01,01 Website registration;

All TNL raiders are required to be registered with the guild website and have their Main and Alt’s claimed.

01.01.02 Raid Sign up

All members / Raiders of TNL are required to sign up for raids.  All raids will have a 24 hour cut off for signups before the actual raid begains; all raiders that fail to sign up for any scheduled raid will be docked 25 dkp for noncompliance.

Note: In order for the officer staff to get a better understanding of who will and will not be attending our guild raids and furthermore for Raid Leaders and the Guild Leader to make full uses of the Rapid Raid System it’s imperative that members comply.

01,01,03 - Gear Score;

Gear Score requirements will be announced at the beginning of the raid, if you are found to not have the proper Gear Score you will be removed from the raid.

01,01,04 – Enchantments;

You are required to be fully enchanted even on low grade gear. If you’re not enchanted you will be unable to join the raid.

01,01,05 Gems;

Just like enchantments, you are required to be fully and properly gemmed for the raid event, and to the best gemming possible. Again if you are found with missing gems sockets, or the gems you have are not the best possible for your class you will be removed from the raid.

01,02 knowledge of the Content;

Basic knowledge of the Content; you are required to have at the very least the basic knowledge of the content we are raiding. There are too many websites such as Icy Veins that will give you a better understanding of what you’re job, class required specific roll is, and where you are suppose too be standing, furthermore where and what not to be standing in. If we find that you just have no clue what you are doing you will be removed from the raid.

Note, standing in fire does not give you health, and standing in anything that is blue in color does not give you Mana. And if DBM tells you to run away, run away from anyone in the raid.

01,02,01 Socializing;

The Ninth Legion raiding guild does not care if you socialize with other guild members, you making friends here is completely incidental to our cause, we the guild officers staff could care less if you make friends here or not, as long as you do your job correctly within our raid events. So if you get your feelings hurt you have the option to place them on ignore, if they are an officer of TNL then well I guess you can’t place them on ignore, you can go to another officer but I caution you in not making or creating drama. Now if an officer does get out of hand we (the officers staff) will deal with it accordantly.

01,02,02 Drama

  • Starting or causeing. TNL has a strict no drama policy. (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=drama) Attention if any one in the officer staff even thinks that it’s even remotely considered drama then it is and you will be punished accordantly, and we won’t be nice.

  • Drama, perpetuating; when drama has been initiated (example) someone calls you a name (swear word) or anything and you react in retaliate for any reason then you are in violation as if you started the Drama in the first place, drama is cured and resolved through (Privet chat to the officer staff). The officer will handle the drama as soon as it happens. A host of punishments may be implied.

Note remember the only thing TNL wants is your ability and skill to win battles not your face. Keep your personal opinions to yourself or you will be causing your drama in another guild.

01,04 MAIN VS ALT.

Some people in the game have 10 alts, or close to it. We are not here to gear up all your alts. You have to pick a Main Character, every other character you have will be considered as an alt.

Note (1) Once invited to TNL or if a new expansion is released you are required to get your Main Raid Ready, you will have limited amount of time to get this accomplished if TNL feels that you are not using your time wisely you may be reprimanded and instructed to get cracking.

(**PENDING**) Note (2) You can not be a Member of TNL if you do not have a Main. if your Main leaves the guild or is guild removed all the ALTS connected to that main will be guild removed as well.

01,05 Add - ons;

At this moment in time the only add on that is required by this Manual is (DBM) Deadly Boss Mods or Big Wigs.

01.06  Start Time, Breaks, and Down time During Raids.

Because time is of the essences and limited to many members, a time limit must be in place so game time is not wasted and used productively. The following rules shall apply to time as it pertains to Raiding.

01.06.01 Raid Start Time;

The Guild Raid Start time is 7:00 pm. Server. Raid invites go out at 6:45pm. This is the time you need to drop all activities and join the advertised raid. At the raid leaders discretion any Raider that is on line and that is holding up the raid because of the lack of punctuality for any reason will be docked -25 DKP fine for the first offence and that fine will be double each time thereafter. Note: don’t hold up the raid.

01.06.02 BREAKS;

Raid Breaks are posted every hour before or after any event within that time frame. The normal raid break time is 5 minutes. The Guild Leader, Raid Leader, or any guild officer designated as a raid assistant by the Raid leader, can place a DBM Break timer better known as the pizza timer. Once a pizza timer is in place all raiders have that time that is posted to do whatever they have to do to be ready for the next hour of raiding. Once that time has expired a ready check will be performed, once completed anyone found to be away from keyboard (AFK) will be docked -25 DKP.

01.07 Ventrilo / Raid communication.

Communication through an internet server such as Ventrilo, or TeamSpeak which provide an invaluable tool to any raid leader that wishes to be on the cutting edge of technology. This gives him the ability to give instant verbal commands on the battle field with in seconds where seconds count. But it can also be a Raid Leaders worst nightmare if he/she allows it to become garbled with useless chatter.

The Ninth Legion Raid communication server is serviced by Darkstar at the moment; the following rules apply to all Ventrilo communication of TNL.

01.07.01 General everyday non-raid usage;

Because we are comprised of many and not singular, our guild membership can and is comprised of many members of varying religious and non-religious groups. Not to mention some are single and some are married, or are grandparents of impressionable children who are like little tape recorders that repeat everything they hear while they watch us form either over our shoulders or from afar. Some of our members are professionals like doctors or lawyers, or just young men and women that are still living with their parents, and to tell you the truth they do not need the sounds of foul language entering their home through our communication port. With this being said all verbal chat in the guild lobby will be G rated and Foul Language free. The guild officers of TNL will monitor the lobby from time to time to insure that it stays family friendly. Violators can be warned by any member, if they do not comply then contact any guild officer online and they will take care of the mater.

Note; Warning if you get banned from vent you will not be allowed to raid with the guild until your ban from vent is over. Furthermore you could be guild removed for this offence. Additionally if you are upset and feel the need to use foul language then DON’T press the push to talk button. Just don’t embarrass yourself or your guild with your actions.

01.07.02 Raid channel communications known as (Raid Chat).

  • During Raid times the entire Ventrilo server is taken over and controlled by the Guild for raid use. The following will be strictly enforced by the TNL officer staff.

  • (** PENDING **)Roughly around 6:45pm (server time) control over the Ventrilo server will commence. At this point the Ventrilo and any channel with in it (excluding any officer channels or offices/rooms, or the local Pub) will become rated G. all officers will at that point be monitoring all communications to insure that a pleasant and family enjoyable environment exists. Furthermore this filter will be in effect during the entire course of the raid now in progress.

01.07.03 Clear Coms

when this command is called by the Guild Leader, Raid leader, or any TNL guild Officer at that point all communication in vent will cease and desist until permission to resume speaking has been given. Anyone failing to abide by this command At the Officers discretion will be docked / fined – 50 DKP. If they continue to persist, the violator could be banned from vent for the remainder of the nightly raid and then removed from the raid.

01.07.04 Auto Clear Coms

this article is the same as article 01.07.03 it encompasses the same command but it is on automatic as soon as the puller starts his count down, and ends as soon as either a wipe has occurred or the DKP Auction has concluded (ended). This does excludes information needed in, and about the raid in progress. All penalties or fines will be the same as article 01.07.03

  • Note; this is not a joke and it is not taken lightly. Now if you make a mistake and violate article 01.07 or any of it sub articles and you catch yourself, or if any one brings it to your attention that you are committing a violation of this article, you are required to immediately apologies for your infraction first then continue on with the filter in effect. (Please see article 01.07.01 Note) and (Article 01.07.03)

01.08.00. Bailing on raids.

If it is not written elsewhere in this manual this article supersedes any article that mentions “Bailing on Raids”.

Definition anyone that knowingly removes themselves from any raid that is forming or in motion without just reason that is accepted by the officer’s staff will be considered bailing. Furthermore this will also include any guild member that we as the officer staff believe is deliberatey leaving the game because they dont like the raid that the guild is doing.

  1. If you’re an officer of the Ninth Legion you will be demoted from your rank and title, along with any privileges connected to that rank. Note the guild Leader cannot be demoted.

  2. If you are a raider or just a member of the guild you will be demoted to the lowest rank, or pre member rank available to members within TNL.

  3. All agreed upon arrangements become null and void, and they cease and desist.

  • All violators will be benched for a number of days determined by the officer staff.
  • They may have their DKP, or Raid Attendance, or both removed.
  • Up to and including guild removal.

Note: We are not here to please you singularly, you are not what makes this guild move forward, and if there is one thing you will learn while you are with us is “TEAM MATE”. We never leave a member behind. You will learn that our phalanx only works if you cover the soldier next to you with your shield from head to foot, same as the guy before you.

01.09.00 Reprimands and punishments.

During the time you are raiding with us you may commit an infraction of one of our rules listed in this manual. Please find listed below a list of penalties and their Definitions.

01.09.01 Benched – if a member is benched, as a form of punishment for any reason they will at, and during raid times be required to stand at the zone line zone in. They will be required to be in the raid as well for tracking and must click on any ready checks that are conducted. If needing to go AFK for any reason you must inform the guild leader or one of the officers if the guild leader is busy. If you are benched in this fashion you will not gather DKP but will gather attendance which will be tallied in order to determine when your punishment will end.

Note if for some reason the guild is lacking attendees for a raid and there is a Benched Raider that can fill the gap then the guild leader/raid Leader can opt to bring in the Benched Raider to fill the gap, but the following restriction will be followed.

  1. The Benched Raider is still on punishment until his raid attendance requirement is met.

  2. The Benched Raider can bid only off spec on any gear posted for bid with a limitation of 1 DKP bid only.

01.10.01 WTF Clause.

This is the article that completes this manual, the officers and Guild Leader of TNL can use this Article when whatever some one’s bull shit is too thick, and we have had about enough of listening to it. It is the catch all rule that doesn’t fit in to the manual somewhere or has not been put in or written at this point.

If a guild officer uses this article, it is because whatever you are trying to do, or say, or you have already done is too STUPID to waste time looking up.

It is the rule that make the statement, NO!, and Shut the fuck up!

Careful, this could be the very rule that kicks you from The Ninth Legion raiding Guild.

01.10.05 Insubordination.

It is what it implies, and it will not be tolerated with in TNL. Let it be known that TNL is a Military based guild, with ranks and titles given to people that have earned it. But this is where it could unravel for anyone that believes that they can come in to TNL and take over control. This is not a democracy, no one is voted into office and disrespect to any officer of this guild could get you guild removed.

01.10.10. Who is The Guild Leader?

Meldagon is the Guild Leader of The Ninth Legion. He was not voted in to office and thus cannot be demoted. He can do and say anything he wishes without reprise or penalty.

After you join this guild you have accepted Meldagon as the guild leader of TNL and give your word you will follow all commands given down by him and his Officers staff while you are in TNL. If you don’t you will be sited for Article 01.10.05 and be guild removed.

01.10.10 A) The Officer Staff

The Officer Staff of TNL are hand selected by the guild leader to support and instruct members of TNL on our SOP. They are guides that have limited control over TNL in the guild leader’s absence. Furthermore they can make command decisions based on this Manual. If a Guild member commits an infraction which is clearly out lined in this manual an officer has the right to reprimand or guild remove said member if need be.

01.10.20 AWOL

Is a military term meaning (Absence without official Leave). As a member of this guild your guild mates would like to know what going on when you’re away, or when you are going to be away from the game. You’re Guild Leader and Raid Officer would also like to know your whereabouts’ as well. Now here is where you keep yourself current within the guild and no one guild removes you for being inactive to long, just post on the forums your intentions, whatever that maybe as to why you are not active. Remember officers to keep current with your officer requirements or you could be demoted as well.

Article 2 (TWO) Loot Distributions

Within every social structure there has to be some kind of order in how things are simply done. It is important in order to keep a civil and peaceful resolution on events as they happen. TNL is, has, and always will be a DKP raiding Force. But most of the civilian population (non TNL Members) believes that since they pay for the month that they are entitled to anything that drops on our raids, this is simply not true.

Our raiding policy may not be the best or the fairest to a particular class of gamer such as the casual raider, the random raider, the weekend raider, or the fanatical raider, or the family man/women Mom/dad raider, and so on, but what it is, is fair to the actual raider, and I will explain.

When a raider comes to the ninth legion they want to know right off if they donate their skill and volunteer their time will they be equally compensated? Our looting policy must be fair first and for most to the Raider and not to any hyphenated counterpart, such as listed above. When a new recruit come to our guild he is given a chance right off even though they do not have DKP listed that they can start bidding off the dkp awarded of the dead bosses, while gaining attendance. I guess this is where we show all TNL Raiders that we support them and that is with their attendance (article 02.10.03 attendance limitations and restrictions). Anywhere from 75% to 100% raid attendance proves to TNL that the raider has been there for recent raid information, and participation. They have shown that they can do their jobs and deserve to have no restrictions on anything that drops on our raid with understanding of article 02.10. Not to mention earned a raid spot. Now any other degree of attendance percentage is just another level that is rewarded to a raider’s loyalty and dedication to our guild and our raid force.

No one want to give a piece of raid gear to a person that has never raided with us before, or has not earned it, or has not proven to us that they will not leave the guild after the raid and take that gear with them. So the following rules stand and are to be followed to the letter.

02,01 Loot Distributions disclaimer.

Be advised, any and all items that drop on any TNL raid is the sole property of TNL. How we distribute our loot is and will be at the sole discretion of the TNL officer staff, it is not open for discussion. At the start of every raid the Raid Leader will (at his discretion) disclose how the loot will be passed out, such as DKP, Roll on, awarded, and so forth.

02.10 DKP System EXPLAINED.

The DKP (Dragon Kill Point) has been out since the start, and is as old as the MMOG concept itself. It was brought about by the lack of fairness of loot distribution. The more dedicated a player is at joining and aiding the raid force at completing new content, and for continuing to help other raiders get loots by continuing to support the raid force when they have surpassed the present content, that by doing so it betters your chances are at getting loots that you have been raiding for weeks on end. It insures that when your item does drop that you have a better than average chance at getting it.

The system is simple, for every boss kill a raider is paid 5 DKP, for every full hour that is tracked a raider gains 5 DKP, and first time boss kills gain 10DKP. Note only DKP listed on the website can be placed for bid, (exception please see article 02.10.01) you cannot bid over what is listed on the website in your personal account listed under your mains name, and you can never go in the hole in your account. Any raider found driving their account into the negative will be charged -100DKP for the offence and double the cost of the item that brought his account below 0.

02.10.01 First time raiders.

First time raiders that are registered with the guild website and have their mains claimed but have no raid attendance are able to bid 5dkp after they have killed a boss during a raid with the guild on their first night and as bosses go down can continue bidding the DKP off the dead bosses or until the raids end. All DKP gained from boss kills and hourly attendance will thus be calculated and deductions for bids applied with the balance remaining posted on the website DKP pool from that day forward they will be required to abide by article 02.10.00 and 02.10.03

02.10.02 Open Face Bidding.

When an item is placed up for bid by the Raid Auctioneer, every raider that needs the item as an upgrade to his Main Spec (not off spec) may place in raid chat any amount of DKP they wish to spend that is actually listed on the Website, no raider can place a bid higher then what they have listed (Please see 02.10.01) for first time raiders. The bid continues in increments of one until 10 DKP has been reached afterwards it progresses at the rate of 5 DKP until 50 DKP has been reached, than in increments of 10 until all bidding has stopped and the auctioneer has closed the bid . If by chance there is a tie then the bidders will random roll 100, the closest to 100 wins the item, and charged the DKP Bid price.

The auctioneer will call out, and end the bidding per each item in vent.

02.10.03 Attendance limitations and restrictions.

As you raid with us you will acquire a significant amount of DKP points, and at some point you may find yourself unable to play for a duration of time for some reason or another, all reasonable and understandable, but while you have been away your Brothers and Sisters have been progressing on progression, working to not only better themselves but our guild rating as well.

Now in all just fairness if a member takes a sabbatical from the game and return later in progression he or she should not have the same rights to our loots as a member that has been here through progression while you have been away.

Furthermore all new raider that are just starting with TNL we say welcome aboard and your start in our raiding guild. Remember even though you start at 0DKP and 0% raid attendance as you raid with us your DKP will grow fast, and the more your attendance will grow as well, It won’t be at 0 for long. Please see article 02.10.01.

So the following limitation will apply to all members.

  1. All members that either have not made or have fallen below 30% listed raid attendance these member/Raiders will only be allowed to place bids of a maximum of 25 DKP.
  2. All Members with a listed Raid attendance of 31% to 75% raid attendance will be allowed to bid up to a maximum of 50 DKP.
  3. All Members above 75% raid attendance have no restriction on the amount they wish to bid.

(**PENDING**) 02.10.04 Main vs. Alt’s looting restrictions.

As stated in Article 01.04 “we are not here to gear up all your alts” but there are times when attendance is low and we as a guild cannot conduct a raid without a curtain class of raider, So if this is the case The Guild Leader or Raid Leader may if it is available to them require a guild member to go on an alt in order for the raid to proceed. Because this was at the request of the GL or RL the alt will be allowed and limited to the following

  1. Able to bid as if they were a main for the raid they are requested to be on. But only able to place a bid for gear no higher than 50 DKP.
  2. Alts with in the raid gain attendance and DKP that is contributed to the DKP, and attendance pool of the Main.

Furthermore, if is requested by the raid leader that you assist your guild by going on your alt, this is the sacrifice you are required to make for your guild as a loyal raider of The Ninth Legion.

Note 1; if for some Reason if raider is called to aid us with their ALT in order for the raid to be conducted or to continue and a bind on equipped items drops and is useable by the raiders Main then that raider can place a bid for said item as a Main even thou he is on his alt and without DKP restriction or limitation.

02,10,03 Standby DKP

The Ninth Legion Raiding guild is a DKP raiding Guild in which we uses the DKP System to distribute Dropped Boss gear (known as loot) after a boss kill. Note: Please see article 02.01.00 for more information.

Because we are a Raiding Guild, all members of TNL that are online are required to be in any scheduled raids listed, either in the instance or outside waiting to enter the zone when called to assist the guild. You are allowed to go on standby and receive DKP if you have permission from the guild leader or the raid leader and the following conditions are met, either way guild members cannot voluntarily place themselves on standby whenever they please.

1 ) You have to be in the raid with your Main Character not an alt.

2 ) You have to be in vent and not AFK while the event is in motion. If you want to go AFK you need to inform a raid officer (not the raid leader) a) that you need and will be going AFK. b) How long you’re going to be.

3 ) If you are on standby; At this point we are allowing members to log off their mains and long on to their alts so they don’t have to be completely bored out of their mind, that’s if all the rules listed here are followed.

4 ) If you decide to log off for the night you need to first leave the raid, and then inform the raid leader or an officer that you’re leaving the raid. Note; if you do not leave the raid or inform anyone that your leaving the game completely then you shall be subject to loss of all DKP generated that night and an added – 25 DKP as a penalty.

5 ) When on standby and raids are called or you are called to raids, you must stop all activities including if you’re on your alt and come to raids, we will not wait for you. Note; if the raid leader feels you’re not doing everything humanly possible to get to his/her raid in a timely fashion they can doc you DKP for delaying the raid force.

Ok here is how it stands. When on Standby you are actually in the raid event. You get boss kill DKP along with attendance DKP per hour. You have to be in the raid a whole hour to get the hourly credit; if you’re in an event hour by only 59 minutes then you won’t get the credit, it has to be a full hour. The raid leader may make some exceptions but they are encouraged not too.

You are actually in the raid equal as any other raider (less loot rights) just like any other raider you have to be attentive and responsive.

Article 3 (Three)

03,01 Ranks and Titles;

Officer – The title of officer is a rank of honor with in The Ninth Legion. Just because you have been in TNL for a long time, or being a friend of someone in the officers staff, or even a relative of anyone in the guild does not in entitle you to this rank, nor is it easy to achieve. Below is a list of requirements that must be exhibited before a member can even be considered for an officer promotion, and must maintain in order to maintain officer status.

  1. Exhibits Loyalty to the guild; No matter what the situation that arises, guild officers will side with what benefits the guild as a whole first, completely and unbiased they will act as judges and administer the Legion Manual as rule of Law, and no guild member is above the legion Manuel.

  2. An Officer must be active weekly; up to a minimum of 3 days a week, either in Game or in Vent, ready to assist guild members when needed.

  3. Working with the officers staff to aid and assist all members to ensure that their needs are met (within reason, and within the guidelines of the Legion Manuel),

  4. An officer takes the time to contact all members they don’t know or who are new to the guild or just new to them in general. They take the time to contact members to ensure that their voice is heard by the guild leader, and so they are not left behind or just fall through the cracks. It is an officer’s job to make sure that the World of The Ninth Legion turns smoothly, and without drama.

  5. An officers know that the guild is more than just World of Warcraft game dynamics. It is a community of individuals with like-minded goals, ideas, and interests. But most of all it’s a community that needs to be govern by laws in order to keep order and peace.

  6. An Officer knows that the growth of the guild which includes but not limited to, guild raid progression, is top priority

  7. An Officer of The Ninth Legion places his goals and ambitions as second to their role as an officer of the guild and will do nothing to jeopardize his standing with the members of his/her guild.

There is no application; you cannot request for promotion to the officer staff. If a position opens on the officer staff only the guild leader with or without council of his officers Staff can promote a member to the rank of Officer.
